24 Things about...

...My Wedding

I did this on facebook and I thought it would be cool to re-post here. If you'd like to share you're own with me I LOVE wedding stories! If you're not married tell me what your fantasy wedding answers would be...some of my single girlfriends answers are amazing (and hilarious!)
So, here it is...

1. WHERE DID YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND MEET? At a Hotel in the City, he was a friend of a friend

2. HOW LONG HAD YOU BEEN TOGETHER PRIOR TO GETTING ENGAGED? 4 years

3. WHEN AND HOW DID YOUR HUSBAND PROPOSE? We got engaged 11/11/06 after talking about getting married and picking a date 2 weeks earlier...then we thought, hmmm, maybe we should actually get engaged seeing as we've picked a date!

4. WERE YOU EXPECTING IT? See above!

5. DID HE CHOOSE THE RING AND DID YOU LIKE IT? We picked it together

6. HOW LONG WAS YOUR ENGAGEMENT? 21 months

7. HOW OLD WERE YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND WHEN YOU TIED THE KNOT? Dave was 27, i was 26

8. INVITATIONS: Pink & Green, mostly designed by me, improved upon and made by Dave's mum's best-friend as a wedding gift

8. LOCATION OF CEREMONY: Lakeside at The Sebel Spa & Resort Hawkesbury Valley

9. LOCATION OF RECEPTION: The Gazebo at The Sebel Spa & Resort Hawkesbury Valley

10. HOW MANY GUESTS? 110

11. BRIDESMAIDS: My sister Amy, and friends Kristy & Hailee

12. BRIDESMAID DRESSES: Sage green, strapless, fell just below the knee with a matching shawl and pink sash

13. GROOMSMEN: Dave's 'best' mate Tapas, his brother Dan & his friend (and the man who introduced us!) Jeff .

14. DRESS: Strapless ivory, with hand-sew bead & crystal net overlay, detachable skirt to convert dress to 3/4 length

15. HAIR AND MAKE-UP: Hair by Iconic Hair & Beauty and make-up by Tammy, my Nutrimetics lady

16: THEME: Just pink & green and fun!

17. FLOWERS: White & light & dark pink roses, girls had smaller version, boys had pink rose button-holes

18. RINGS: Yellow-gold v-shaped with 9 diamonds, found it in Prouds and it fit perfectly with my engagement ring (which is not your usual shape, it's a flower made of little diamonds) and it was half-price!

19. PHOTOGRAPHY: David Starr Photography

20. CAKE: 2-tier chocolate mud with no icing decoration but a pale pink ribbon around each tier and a bride figurine with a fishing rod on the top tier, catching the groom trying to get away on the bottom tier, couple of icing flowers

21. DECORATIONS: Glass hurricanne lamps filled with white, pink & green organza lolly bags! note: don't put m&m's and skittles in the same bag..casued some taste confusion! People were expecting chocolate and lolly in the same mouthful! My bad!

22. WHAT SONG DID YOU WALK DOWN THE AISLE TO? All I Want is You by U2.

23. WHAT SONG DID YOU HAVE YOUR FIRST DANCE TO? I Got You Babe by Sonny & Cher, in memory of my grandparents, who dressed as Sonny and Cher and performed (lip-synched!) this at their suprise 50th wedding anniversary party (they were going to do it, even if we'd taken them to a restaurant!) they couldn't be there sadly as Grandma passed away in 2001 and Grandpa is in a nursing home with advanced dementia...:-( This was my way of having a piece of them there. I taught Dave how to dance properly and twirl me round, people were impressed by his fancy footwork!

24. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE DAY? The whole day was fabulous, best day of my life, but my fav part was going back to our room after it was all done, soaking in the spa together and talking about how great the day was and how cool it was to be husband and wife

Wow 110 guests! Can i just ask how you get 110 guests? Ive always wondered this about big weddings. I dont even have that many friends between us!
Hey Lucy, it comes from the big family. 3 quarters of those guests were family. I am the oldest of 5 kids and my husband is second of 5 kids. My mother is one of 4 and Dave's mother is one of 4, his Dad, one of three. I have over 20 first cousins a quarter of which are married so that swells the numbers quite a bit. Out of all those people, probably only 20-25 guests were our friends! Thankgod Dave's parents and my parents paid for the family guests and we only had to pay for our friends coz I didn't want to invite half of them but since Dave's mum insisted that all cousins and aunts and uncles be invited it meant I had to do that for my side. All I can say is, despite it being the best day of my life, I never want to plan something like that ever again and I felt such relief once it was all over! I wanted to elope!

Sounds like a lovely wedding Mrs. P. Kudos to you for holding it all together with that many guests! Good though that you didnt have to pay for all 110!
