Cluck! Cluck! Cluck!..The Baby Part
Everyone's having babies and getting married! It's not fair!
Ok, well the getting married part isn't, seeing as I already did that. But the babies part? I haven't done that yet and I want to, but now is just not the time.
Why? I hear you ask?
Because we really need to get our credit card all or mostly paid off before we have kids and we also want to re-do the bathroom and kitchen before then. So we are looking at a couple of years maybe. Not forgetting the pergola and landscaping, the ceiling insulation and getting the trees out the front ripped out!
Which is fine, I know it's the sensible thing to do, but being sensible is no consolation when everyone around you is, or seems to be pregnant and having babies.
In the last year alone, I know at least 15 women who have had babies.
Just last week I found out that one of my closest friends is pregnant with her second child. I am so super excited for her, it's the best news, and she is one of the best mother's I've ever met, but I can't help feeling just a tiny bit jealous of her gorgeous son and the baby she is soon to have.
So, in consolation, I've turned to pets. Yes, pets.
We now have 10! (2 guinea pigs, 3 quail...who are sitting on eggs so we could increase pet numbers exponentially in the coming week or so...2 mice, 1 budgie and 2 finchs'...we'll also be adopting another budgie soon from my friend who is expecting)
And no that's not an indication of things to come...we are NOT having 10 kids! 2, maybe 3, but certainly not 10!
You know the baby-yearn has gotten out of hand when you find yourself looking at your husband and imagining that face as a baby...yikes!
At least I'm back at work tomorrow, so I can look out the window and see some of the worst-behaved kids I've ever seen and remind myself what I love about not having kids and to make the most of it while it lasts!
I've always wanted to have kids, but only in the last year have I found myself to get really clucky...is this a side-effect of marriage no-one told me about?
