A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That, And a Dash of Giveaway!
The other day I was looking over at Someecards for some interesting ecards to use and I came across one and I thought, gee, I could take that and make it my own! So I adapted the text a little, added my own super-awesome picture to illustrate the point, and ta-da! A new quipture!
This oh so appropriate picture was taken after a night out for Dave's 29th birthday a few years ago. We went to a local pub where some of our friends were putting on a dance party, and then afterwards everyone came back to our place. Our mate T, in the Transformers mask (T's own), sweet green & gold AIS jacket (mine) and Aussie flag (Dave's), was wearing this mask most of the night. He even wore it in to the servo on the way home and freaked out the guy behind the counter a little. I'm pretty sure he thought he was about to get robbed!

Anyway, moving right along, today I am going to a morning tea with Kelly HTandT and I am taking some Strawberry Mini Muffins to share. Now Kelly can vouch for the fact that I am in no way a cook, or a baker, I try to avoid it as much as possible to be honest. But sometimes motivation takes me from behind and I get my cook on, or bake on, as the case may be.
I got this recipe from a sweet little book called Food Babies Love, which I won from Yvette at the blog formerly known as Delightfully Tacky Little Squirts, but is now known as the AWESOME Little Bento Blog. If you haven't already checked out Yvette's blog you totally should. But I warn you, bento lunch inspiration is gonna smack you in the face and make you it's bi-atch! And that ain't a bad thing. If I wasn't so fucking lazy myself I would so be getting in on this Bento lunch action and making it my bi-atch, but alas, my laziness is still well and truly in control of me!
So anyway, my Strawberry Mini Muffins, turned out fan-bloody-tastic, if I do say so myself. I'm sure as you're reading this I will be getting rave reviews from the other ladies at the morning tea and Kelly will be begging me to cook them for her birthday next year. Either that or they'll all be lying on the floor dying. But not because the recipe's shit. Because my baking is shit!
Totally super simple to make, although with the amount of sugar and oil in them these will be an occasional treat, not something I will make all the time.
Let me know if you can't read the text properly and I can email you the recipe |

And now, without further ado, the next thing I am giving away to celebrate Punky's impending birthday! Anyone who leaves a comment on this post will go in the running to win a copy of the 2013 BOM (Bureau of Meterology) Australian Weather Calendar. I am a total weather nerd and have been buying these calendars for years now. I got my letter in the mail last week to let me know that next years was on sale and I decided to buy two and give one away. Aren't you people lucky I love you so much hey!
The BOM run a photography contest every year to choose the twelve photos that will be featured in the calendar, and I have to say, the winning photographs are just spectacular! The calendar also has capital city weather conditions averages for each month of the year (which for a weather nerd like me makes me feel a little lusty!), as well as other cool weather/sciency (totally a word!) information.
I totally stole this picture of the calendar from here. |

With my eldest starting school next year, I've come to recognize that Yvette from the Little Bento Blog is a freakin' genius!
Happy Birthday Mia. Have a lovely day sweetie.
Mini muffins look yummy, not a baker... suuuuure.
and 2.. THANK YOU.. for your strangely unorthodox kind words about my bento lunches :) I didn't even know you were going to mention me and it was an awesome surprise!! Thank you!!
You my dear have become a great friend through the blogosphere and appreciate your support xx
have a fabulous bento day!
*grinning* are you blinded by my sparkling teeth!?
Those muffins sound yum - hope Kelly survives ;)
Hello from #teamIBOT
I used to be a bigger weather nerd because I lived in a town with unusually big, sudden downpours. Like record breaking amounts of rain in very small time periods. We had so much once, that we were flooded out of the shed we were living in, and had to (quickly) move to our half finished house
My hubby is a weather nerd as well. He has a weather station on our roof that he's constantly checking the statistics of, and his own weathery stationy website thingy to go with it. Sound like I know a lot about it? Yep, that me, an expert on all things weather (as you can tell)!
The pics on the calendar do look great though! Awesome photography is something I am actually interested in! :)
xx

But I also loved the flow of this post, it's written like you talk, very quickly! Or, did I just read it fast...?
Well done on the multiple name drops. And thanks x
I know i love her Bento lunches so much! I wish she could come and make them for me to take to work!
No worries mate, I really do love your bento lunches. I want you to come and be my Mum and make me bento lunches everyday, they are just s cool!
Xxxxxxx
I have always wanted to get one of those but I've been scared that I will end up like Ross did in that episode of Friends when he whitened his teeth so much he didn't want to open his mouth on his date, then his date turned off the lights and she had a black light and his teeth were glowing neon white. Hilarious on the show, maybe not so in real life!
Holy crap, that is some crazy weather you had there! I hope you didn't lose too much stuff.
And yes, it is very much like the way I talk, you always have to read my writing with minimal breath between paragraphs!
