Quotable Notable

Jenni over at Story of my Life blog is running a blogging challenge called Blog Every Day in May. I was going to participate but I knew that with everything I have going on at the moment I just wouldn't be able to do it. But I did think that the prompts Jenni has given for the month would be good to take inspiration for throughout the month.

So today I'm using the prompt from Day 4 -
Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it

The post in the picture above is probably one of my all time favourites. I've mentioned before my love of quotes. I've collected them in a notebook since high school. But the quote above is not written in my notebook and never will be. Ill never forget it, it's burned in my mind.

I don't know where it comes from or who said it. All I know is who said it to me.

My Grandmother. Not long before she died.

I've written before about my Grandma and how much I love her and look up to her, despite the fact she has been gone from this world since 2001.

What I love about this quote is that it sums up my Grandma's attitude to life so perfectly. She dedicated her life to Jesus and serving others and even when she was at her sickest she was still looking for ways to help, encourage and lift others up.

So tell me, what's your favourite quote? Do you remember who you first heard it from or where you saw it? I'd love to know.

Blogging as always with Essentially Jess, because its Tuesday and I Blog on Tuesdays! Do you?

My favourite quote is pretty simple, but it resonates with me ' It can't rain all the time ', from the movie 'The Crow '. For me, its the same as ' this too shall pass ' .... On those down, dark days I can take comfort in the fact that eventually the sunshine, good times will come round again. Or, it can't rain all the time... :)

It is one written to me by my sons grandmother, 'Pride in family, is pride in ordinary people, who in our hearts and minds become extraordinary". She is a wealth of wisdom and love, even with her battles with cancer is always helping out others in her community.

An oldie, but a goodie: "it's always darkest before the dawn". I've found this to be true on so many occasions, and it never fails to give me hope when I need it. x

That is a great quote, and has got me thinking.. I don't think I have one! Aw crap, why don't I have one, I should have one! This too shall pass is the only one I can think of at the moment.

It is such a beautiful quote, I have not heard it before. I did three day of the challenge and then ran away out bush so I am yet to catch up.

It's not really a quote but a song I remember from when I was a young girl and have believed it since I was little "One day my prince will come" - and he DID! I hope my daughter waits til she finds her prince like I did, and that she has to kiss less frogs that I did xxx Em

Yes, a great quote. Here are a couple of my favourites, hope you enjoy too :-)

Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He’s going to be up all night anyway - Mary C. Crowley

If you think you're too small to have an impact try going to bed with a mosquito in the room - Anita Roddick

The thought that I must, that I ought to write, never leaves me for an instant - Chekhov

I wrote about my Grandmothers today too. I was lucky enough to meet one of them twice but it's been years since they passed on. I think that my own kids are so lucky to have experienced both sets of Grandparents - they are very special people.
My favourite quote these days is this: Moderation is best. It seems to be applying to lots of areas of my life of late.
It comes from a Greek philiosopher and I also wrote about the quote recently as well.
We must be riding the same wave. X

I love that quote! Music and lyrics usually run through my head. For the past month it's been Blackbird by the Beetles. I keep hearing 'Blackbird fly, into the light of the dark black night'. It's so relevant to me at the moment and a song I rarely hear. Funny enough it seems to be everywhere this week!

I too think of that when times have been rough, particularly when I was in that newborn phase with Punky, I think it was a mantra at the time!

Hahaha, I hate it when you can't remember favourite something, right when you need it! It's always the way! This too shall pass is definitely a very god quote though!

I do that all the time when people ask me my fave song or movie, there are so many but then my mind blanks when I'm put on the spot.

They really are inspiring. I've been thinking of making up a few of my faves along the theme of 'This too shall pass' and putting them on my fridge in preparation for when the next bubs comes along, I know I will need that constant reminder!

I love all of those Janet, and I've only heard the first one before. I am definitely going to steal these to put in my notebook!

My favourite quote is from Emerson and I have it framed on my bedroom wall. Six foot wide so I never ever forget. Pic here: http://magnetoboldtoo.com/2012/09/08/my-room/

Love that quote, Kylie. And all the more special that it's your Grandma who told it to you.
One of my favourite quotes is: "Always plant a tree wherever you go because you never know when you'll need that shade" Forgot who first told it to me...but it's stuck in my brain.

I have a million quotes that I love. Probably my all time favourite would be: 'No one can make you fell inferior without your consent" from Eleanor Roosevelt
