**Product Talk by Nuffnang**

A few weeks ago I got an email from the lovely folks at Nuffnang about a product talk opportunity for a new website called MyProsperity. As soon as I read what it was about I had to put my hand up for a trial, it sounded exactly like something I needed.

The idea behind MyProsperity is to bring anything to do with your finances together in one easy to view and manage place. You can link all of your accounts, your bank accounts, savings accounts, super accounts, anywhere you have money really, and link them all together. It's free to join and there is plenty of protection in place to keep your financial info private and secure.

It's surprisingly easy to link all of your accounts, all you need to do is enter your online banking details and it accesses the accounts and pulls up your info. It sounds a little scary but it's actually really amazing. We have most of our bank accounts and mortgage with St. George but we also have ING Savings accounts and a Bankwest Credit Card, so being able to see them all in the one spot via MyProsperity is awesome.

The thing I really like about the website though is the way it goes through and analyzes your account transactions and then groups everything into Income and Expenses. To be honest that was a little confronting, suddenly seeing clear as day the difference between our income and expenditure. Let's just say its something we are going to have to work on over the next few months now we are living on the one wage again.

Oh, and I spend less on personal care then Dave does. Just sayin!

It also organises your expenses into categories so you can easily see where your money is going. It's pretty accurate in categorising your outgoings, although obviously it can't take in to account things like emergency expenses and the other little quirks that we all have in our financial lives. I've spent a bit of time going through all of the transactions and refining the categories they come under which is a pretty easy exercise.

There are obviously a few little bugs in the site, technical things that will be fixed quite easily with a bit of feedback from users, but I think they've done a pretty good job in building something that is going to become a handy tool in this household!

All in all Dave and I have found MyProsperity excellent for getting a good overview of where our money is going and what we need to do to sort some things out. I'm looking forward to spending a bit more time sitting down with it and really getting the most out of it. For two people who tend to glaze over when we have to deal with anything financial or set up budgets, this website is going to be really useful for us.

I really could have done with this site about 4 months ago when I was first working out our finances for when I went on maternity leave. Would have saved the million trees I wasted scribbling everything on to bits of paper so I could get stuff organised!

Are you awesome at organising your finances or do you tend to put it to the back of your mind until you really need to think about it like me? Would you use a website like this or are you an excel spreadsheet kinda gal/guy? And does your husband spend more on personal care than you do?
