Linky Lovin' Friday {5th September 2014} // Blogging

So this week I've spent a lot of time reading all of the wrap-up posts from people who attended the Problogger Training Event last weekend. One of the awesome things about the internet in general, and Twitter in particular, is that even if you're not at the event, you can still follow along and learn some awesome stuff.

So I thought I would do a little round-up of all of the PBEvent posts I've been reading and the ones I've really loved. The great thing is that a lot of the speakers have posted versions of their presentations online for attendees and non-attendees alike to access and learn from. If like me you weren't there on the weekend, then you will want to check out those links in particular.

Fitting it all in | Finding Time by Maxabella Loves

It goes without saying that Bron gives good blog, and while reading through the tweets from her session, it's one of the ones I'm most sad that I missed. Thankfully she is distilling her knowledge in to 3 blog posts, the first of which I have linked here. If you struggle to fit everything in that you want to do then  you'll want to read this post.

The PBEvent Resource Page of Awesome from Socially Sorted

 I discovered Donna and Socially Sorted about a month ago on Google Plus and since then I have been going through her website and soaking up it's goodness. She shares all of the stuff she presented at PBEven in this post and let me tell you, there is definitely gold in there! Be warned though that it can lead you off in to a rabbit hole of goodness, so make sure you have enough time to click through to all of the links and info she shares. I promise you, it's more than worth it!

Build an online community that you love by Nikki from Styling You

For me, blogging is all about the community. I've met some awesome people through blogging, people that I consider to be good friends, not just online, but offline as well. If you want to know more about building an awesome community on your blog then this is the place to start.

What Bloggers need to know about SEO in 2014 by Rand Fishkin

I saw a lot of great tweets coming from this session and I was super excited to see that Rand has uploaded his presentation slides to SlideShare. SEO is something that I have struggled with for a long time, and it was only after reading Nicole Avery from Planning with Kids Blog Boost eBook (affiliate link) that I started to understand it a bit better and start using it in my posts. Rand's presentation dives a little deeper and it's a must for anyone who wants to get there head around this very important tool for bloggers.

Finding My Way (lessons from problogger '14) by Style for a Happy Home

The blog will be 15 months old next week. What a perfect time to realise that it doesn’t need to be like anyone else’s blog, but for it to carve a little space of its own. All of this may be oversharing, but it’s my blog and I’ll overshare if I want to! ;) Here’s to a new adventure!

I really, really loved this post from Danielle. She says a lot of things that I have actually been feeling on and off all year. I set myself a few blogging goals, and while I have achieved those goals with 4 months to spare, it's left me feel a bit deflated, and seen me checking out my stats too often and comparing myself to others. At the beginning of the year I hardly ever checked stats and or looked at other peoples, now it's a way too regular thing and I've decided to not look at my stats at all for the next month and just focus on doing what I want to do and writing whatever it is that I'm moved to write.

The things I learned at Problogger (and they're not what you might expect) by Renee from About a Bugg

This is not my first ProBlogger conference, in fact it’s my third. There’s also been some other blogging and social media conferences over the past four-odd-years in the life of About a Bugg. You could say I now get at least the basics of blogging.
Which is probably why these lessons surprised me the most.

As the title suggests, this is not your usual Problogger wrap up filled with lots of gushing praise and lists of things and dreams and goals. I like the fact that Renee has realised she doesn't want to monetise her blog, and also, the eye-rolling at some inspirational speakers? I am so there with you!

ProBlogger conference 2014 - my top 5 lessons by Emily from You Learn Something New Every Day

I don't want to do things just because I CAN. I want to do things because I WANT TO.

Em's post is great because not only does it have her trademark wit and sensibility, she added great visuals too, and I am a sucker for a few good visual quotes!

While not technically a ProBlogger wrap-up, this video by the husband of the lovely Robyn from Mrs. D plus 3, about what happens on a Saturday morning when Mum's away and Dad is left in charge is just the best. Do yourself a favour and go and watch it now. It will put a smile on your dial.

So there you have it, the posts I've been loving reading from the ProBlogger 2014 Conference. Now more than ever am I determined to get there in 2015, if for nothing more than the socialising and catching up with bloggy mates. That is after all why I blog!
