One Perfect Moment {Girl's Night} | Life

One Perfect Moment is all about those moments, big or small, that make you wish they'd last forever. Those moments you want to stop in time, when everything feels perfect, even for just a split-second. Snapshots of the mind. Moments to treasure forever.

On Friday night I packed my bag, said goodbye to Dave and the girls, and headed over to my good friend Kel's place for a night of good food, drinks and karaoke. The RSL about 10 minutes from Kel's house was hosting live band karaoke and it was the perfect excuse to get together and catch up.

Despite the intense peer pressure from the girls to get up and sing, I had a really great night, drinking and talking and just generally having fun. There is something so nice about getting out of the house every once in a while and catching up with your friends and being able to have adult conversation without munchkins underfoot. I'd only seen Kel once this year, and the it was the first time in a few months that I'd gotten to catch up with our other friends.

After drinking, singing and a little dancing it was finally time to leave at 1am and head home. Kel's cousin headed off to bed soon after and left Kel and I to sit on her back step and chat the night away. It wasn't anything particularly groundbreaking, not a heartfelt D&M, just two close friends, chatting about our loves and our babies. Sharing sympathies, talking in that free and easy way that you can only do with someone you've known for a very long time.

You know it's something special when you can be completely relaxed and at ease with someone. When you can sit on their back step at 2 in the morning and talk about anything and everything, or nothing at all.

Like I said, it doesn't happen as often as I wish it could, but when it does, I cherish it. I couldn't live without the support and love I get from my closest friends, and I am so thankful to have them in my life. I don't have a huge group of friends, but the ones I do have are dear to me, and I have known them all for a very long time, some for over half of my life.

They are the ones who know me. Really know me. The love me. They look after me. They cheer me up when I'm down. They're the first to celebrate my victories with me. There's no judgement. No jealousy. Just pure, unadulterated friendship. Just the way it should be.

Do you have close friends like this? Do you get to catch up often?

I have a small group of friends who I would call my 'true friends'. It doesn't matter how often we see each other because when we do it's like we have never been apart. Someone once said to me that some people/friends are only meant to be in our lives for certain periods of time, but true friends are there for a lifetime.

I love get together's with girlfriends or a girlfriend where you just chat for hours with ease and total abandon. Better than therapy! I don't have a lot of friends either but the ones I do have are very special. Quality over quantity for me :-) x

Love those moments and agree they are few and far between due to kids and getting a chance to see those extra special people in your life. Unfortunately most of my besties are interstate but when we catch up you can't get a word in edgewise!

I love this! Other than date nights, girl's nights are my favorite (and both are rare)!!! Just discovered your blog but I'll be following you from now on :-)

I use to think I had quite a few girlfriends like this, but in reality I only have a small handful and that is all I need. I spent my Saturday night with my sisters (3 and a sister-in-law) and we ate, drank and chatted until 3am. Very special ladies in my life.

Nothing better than good girlfriends that make you feel like you are at home

I have a few really close friends plus my wonderful mums group - I cherish both groups and love our girls nights out (these are essential to maintain my sanity). Having people who love you for you is pretty special. And how cool does live karaoke sound? Being able to sing with an actual band would be amazing. Do they still include the dodgy karaoke video clips? Watching those is half the fun! I'd love to know which tunes you belted out :)
I'm missing that right now as those closest to me are in NZ, although I do have my sisters. So glad you got to do this, it's good for the soul.x

Oh what I would give for a girls night! I haven't had one since long before I had bub. I think we're all too exhausted to stay up past 1am though!

I have a handful of close friends, not part of the same group, all separate and they have their different qualities. I rarely go out on girls nights as my friends are not all part of a group but enjoy just going out for dinner every once in a while.

How amazing are those friendships? I think I'm really lucky in friendship. I have some really special people in my life. And there's nothing I love better than getting out for a girl's night with a couple of them!

I would love to link today's post but it's far from perfect. Sounds like you had a great night out. I really miss my NSW friends. Moving so often and so far away I'm always the new kid on the block and the connections I've made just aren't the same.
