Shooting through 2017 {the projects} | Photography
As many of you would know, for the last 2 years I've undertaken some 52 week projects where I captured a portrait each week of the girls, both individually and together. It's been so much fun, and it's so great to be able to look back over those photos and see how much they've changed. I've just put in the order for my 2016 52 week project images to be printed in a photo book and I can't wait to get it back.
There is just something about being able to sit and hold something tangible in your hands, to slowly turn the pages and look closely at the images. I find it so much more satisfying and fun than looking at images on a screen. One of my personal goals for this year is to update the photos on my walls with more recent ones.
I'm also going to endeavour to finish a big project I've been working on, photographic year books with all of my best and favourite digital images from the past 10 years (I switched to digital photography in 2007). So far I've managed to get 2010 & 2013 finished & printed and I've made a start on 2011 but it's a time consuming process. I have to go through all of the photos, copy them in to a folder for uploading, and then design the album (I'm a bit of a sucker for doing my own designs rather than using pre-made ones). As you can imagine, with the sheer volume of images I shoot each year there is a lot to sort through!
Moving along, this year, on top of my 52 week projects (one for each girl, a sister's project and my own personal one using the Clickin' Moms prompts) I've decided to tackle a 365 project. I first tried a 365 back in 2014 and I made it to about April/May before I gave up on it. However I've been shooting more and more in the last couple of years and learnt a lot. I realised towards the end of last year that I was shooting almost daily now so why not make a conscious effort to document the whole year with one photo a day.
While my 52 week projects are more 'traditional' portraits, I want the 365 images to be almost purely documentary. There will be some overlap of course, but eventually I want to have them all published in to a photobook along with the stories that go with each image. I've been sharing them so far on my Facebook page, and I thought I'd do a monthly personal photography post with all of the images for both my 365 & 52 week projects so that I can view them from wherever I am, whenever I want.
So here is my first photography post for the year, featuring the first 2 weeks of the 52 week projects and the first 15 days of my 365.
Are you doing any photography projects this year? Have you ever done a 365 project? How do you like to print and display your photos?
